Fuel Fighter 6

Fuel Fighter is a student organization at NTNU in Trondheim, competing in “Shell Eco Marathon” to build the world’s most energy efficient concept car. Group project, 2020-2021.
Right: Early clay model, based on general aerodynamic principles and the structure of the electric drivetrain. The rules of the competition set a number of constraints for dimensions etc.

Testing aerodynamics, with 3D-printed models and digital simulations.

Every part of the monocoque is optimized for low air resistance and low weight.

The seat and the mandatory firewall are integrated into one continuous structural element, making the body stiffer, lighter and simpler.

The Fuel Fighter 6 weighs 66 kg, it has a simulated drag coefficient of 0.171, and an estimated energy efficiency of 250km/kWh, which is equivalent to 2260km per liter of gasoline. It was granted the “Design Award” at the 2022 Shell Eco Marathon.
